Happy Monday! I'm back with another installment of my "Meet the Maker" series. Today I'm introducing you to Nik Vandeventer of Wasting Thyme.
I first met Nik through this awesome group that I'm a part of called Orange County Makers, which is this wonderful online community for local makers! Her fun style and her no nonsense attitude are just a couple of the things I love about her, and the fact that she loves craft beer as much as I do is just icing on the crafty cake.

Tell me a little bit about yourself...
Hi! I'm Nik, born & raised in SoCal, I currently live in Long Beach with my Husband and 3 cats (who I can't shut up about). I am self-taught hand embroiderer, creative maker, day dreamer & potty mouth.
What is it that you make and how did you get started?
I will DIY pretty much anything I can but mostly stick to naughty hand embroidery & sassy greeting cards. I've been a maker for as long as I can remember, I take after my grandma who is a quilter, art doll maker & all around awesome and creative boss bitch. After much support from friends and family and the final push from a stranger (a dental hygienist of all people!) I finally opened my Etsy shop, Wasting Thyme, 3 years ago. I have learned SO much within that time and still have so much more to learn but I have been pretty happy with the way it's grown.
Hates: Peas! ugh get outta here with your nasty selves.
Guilty Pleasures: Super cheesy Cozy Mystery Novels & All of the Fast & Furious movies, Like I legitimately love them & can't wait to see the new one! hahah
Cocktail of Choice: Bombay Sapphire Gin & Soda with lime
What advice to you have for fellow makers?
Give yourself a break, be kind & patient with yourself. Sometimes everything won't go as planned and that is ok. Sometimes everything will go as planned and you still won't be happy about it, and that's ok too.
